What is it?
A thimble my grandmother gave to me when she could no longer sew.
Why does it matter?
This is a thimble my grandmother gave to me when she could no longer sew. My grandmother was brought up when it was normal to sew your own ball gown, although she didn’t go to many balls. She also enjoyed sewing, and her sewing room had lots of fabulous surprises. She was always working on one creative project or another, not needing to be an expert at anything, but just enjoying the play. This thimble helps remind me that it’s okay to not do everything to the best of my ability, sometimes it’s okay to just play and move on to the next thing.
