A cup with a sea, boat and town design on it.

A cup

It will break one day, and I’ll replace it with another one.

What is it?

I cheap cup I didn’t need, it holds my morning routine warm.

Why does it matter?

It holds a stabilising routine and hints at a feeling of being in a place of contentedness – sun, salt air, open skies, seagulls. It’s a reminder that sometimes it’s not about searching for the big, exciting happiness, but about the small moments of comfort that bring a smile. It is less grand but, for me at this time of my life, more enduring. It will break one day, and I’ll replace it with another one that calls out to me.
